POSITION SUMMARY:
The incumbent, under general supervision, will be tasked to conduct performance testing on powder coatings per industry standards such as ASTM and SAE, as well as other formal engineering specification test methods. The associate will record test data and summarize results in electronic reports that will ultimately be presented to customers. Some routine monitoring and minor maintenance of test equipment, such as corrosion & weathering test cabinets, will be required. The associate will be expected to handle, under appropriate supervision, small quantities of hazardous chemical materials, such as concentrated acids, concentrated alkalis, and solvents; and to comply with PPG authorized disposal procedures for such chemical materials upon completion of testing work. The associate may be trained on the spray application of powder coating products.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Outside Experience - High school diploma or equivalent. High school chemistry and algebra are preferred; some college chemistry and math is desirable.
Candidates must possess an ability to read and interpret complex customer specifications and be able to create project plans with timelines.
A high proficiency in multi-tasking and an ability to successfully execute multiple tasks is required.
Effective communication skills, written and verbal, are necessary for communicating with both internal and external customers.
